Teacher Qualifications for the Quranic Linguistics series

NOTE: QL Basic can be taught by anyone with 2+ years of College Arabic experience. This page only lists teacher qualifications for the QL series, not QL Basic.

In addition to a working knowledge of tajwid, two years Arabic teaching experience, and a love for Quran and Arabic, the Quranic Linguistics teacher is expected to have the following linguistics knowledge:

(1) Strong understanding of Arabic Morphology. This may be validated by the successful completion of any one of the following texts:

• Level 1 of Intro to Quranic Linguistics.

• العزّي

• المقصود

• شذا العرف في فنّ الصرف

• التطبيق الصرفي

• التحليل الصرفي

• A comparable book on Arabic morphology

(2) Strong understanding of Arabic Grammar.  This may be validated by the successful completion of any one of the following texts:

• Level 2 of Intro to Quranic Linguistics.

• An advanced commentary on ألفية ابن مالك

• جامع الدروس العربية

• معاني النحو

• A commentary on  متمّة الأجرومية   such as  الكواكب الدرية

• A comparable book on Arabic grammar

(3) Understanding of Arabic rhetoric. 

This may be validated by successful completion of any one of the following:

• Level 3 of Intro to Quranic Linguistics.

• البلاغة الواضحة

• البلاغة العربية

• A comparable book on Arabic rhetoric
